Marketing nuggets

I have a brand new concept to propose. Well, actually it might not be brand new at all, but then the fact that I heard about it only today makes it brand new for me at least :-).

This concept was propounded in our Marketing Management class today. It speaks of how brands and companies move through the following matrix:



NOTHING TO NOBODY

SOMETHING TO SOMEBODY

EVERYTHING TO SOMEBODY

SOMETHING TO EVERYBODY

EVERYTHING TO EVERYBODY



How a brand chooses to tread this matrix is its own prerogative and depends on where it wants to be over a period of time.

I’m absolutely enamored by the fact that brands or companies can actually move through this matrix. The fact that most brands don’t even make it beyond the NOTHING TO NOBODY stage is testimony to the fact that this is an absolutely wonderful yet critical and challenging exercise, which all prospective marketing managers must be aware of.
