I’ve always wondered as to when one person wins, why does another have to lose. We, as humans consider ourselves an extremely superior species and proudly proclaim our intellectual superiority. However, somewhere inside us we still possess some primal instinct which tells us that in order to win, we have to necessarily defeat someone else. This probably is what Charles Darwin referred to as ‘survival of the fittest’.
it really saddens me to notice the fact that as students of B-Schools, on one side we are exposed to concepts such as
effectiveness of team work
the sum of the parts being greater than the whole
whereas on the other side, we completely fail to understand that in order for one to win, another need not necessarily lose.
The reasons as to why we behave the way we do when we react to our victories, defeats, joys, sorrows, setbacks, achievements, etc is completely beyond my comprehension. Ideally all of the above should be objectively considered and acted upon, rather than violently reacted upon. Wonder when better sense will prevail.
